3 Lessons we can learn from Nature

Greenwich-13

Nature is the greatest thing there is out there. But we are trapped in our daily routines, we keep wanting more and thus we often forget to look outside, to appreciate what really matters in life.

It seems we are all chasing happiness, that we are all looking for that one more thing that would finally give us a feeling of completeness. We were born in nature and we are spending our days in busy offices, loud supermarkets and crowded streets.

I doubt you could ever find a happy lion living in a cage, so why do you expect to enjoy life by giving up to your true nature?

I am not suggesting you to go back to the forest, to embrace a wild lifestyle and to give up everything you have. Still I believe you can realise there are many valuable lessons we can learn from nature. Here are some of them:

  1. Even the smallest thing counts. Nothing in nature is there just to be there. Everyone and everything has its own role, its own purpose. The smallest insect, the tiniest bud and the invisible bacteria, they are all essential. Try to take out from nature the first thing that pops up in your mind and you would soon realise that the whole nature would collapse due to its absence. Similarly, our lives are made as a sum of different elements, all of which are necessary. Even the smallest smile matters, never forget it.
  1. Silence is beauty. Did you ever appreciate the astonishing beauty of a sunset? or the unbelievable miracle of the leaves falling in autumn? I bet you did. All this magic takes place in silence. Silence makes them as beautiful as they are. We are so accustomed to our loud lives that we have lost the ancient art of appreciating the silence, to fully live the moment, to be here. By spending some time among nature, in a calm and relaxing environment we can learn again this art. We can appreciate the silence, once again.
  1. Change requires time. In nature there is no hurry. Everything takes its time. On the other hand we are always hurrying, striving to get to the next step. We get anxious as we find some an obstacle in our path, we start to feel unsure as things are not going the way we expect them to go. If only we had the time to look out we would soon realise that everything takes time, that unexpected situations are those that make life worth living. If you want to change something, don’t hurry. Appreciate the way, live every tiny step of your journey.
